BASIC TRAINING

10 minute daily lessons Monday - Friday for 4-6 weeks

The Safety First PediAquatics Basic Training course teaches essential water safety skills to infants, toddlers, and children as young as 10 months. Progressing at their own pace, each child learns the swim-float or swim-float-swim sequence, where they swim facedown, flip to a floating position to rest and breathe, and return to a horizontal swimming posture to continue swimming, ensuring they have the skills to come to the surface for air. Over the 4–6 week course, your child will master these techniques, including swimming fully clothed to simulate real-life scenarios, equipping them with the ability to self-rescue in the event of an accidental fall into the water. They’ll also learn to swim to fun targets like steps, the wall, or between adults. Once Basic Training is completed, your child can continue developing their skills with Maintenance or Stroke Lessons to build confidence and proficiency throughout the swim season.

MAINTENANCE LESSONS

10 minute lessons scheduled

1-2x a week

After completing Basic Training, your child will transition to Maintenance Lessons scheduled  1–2 times per week. Just like any sport, consistent practice is essential to maintain and build on their skills. During these sessions, I will ensure your child retains and strengthens their swim-float-swim sequence, keeping their water safety techniques sharp. These lessons are especially important during the summer months, when frequent swimming with friends or using flotation devices can lead to the development of bad habits. Maintenance Lessons provide the reinforcement needed to keep your child confident and safe in the water throughout the swim season.

STROKE LESSONS

Scheduled 1-2x per week

Stroke lessons are for when your child has mastered their swim float swim sequence and are developmentally ready to begin to learn the skills of all 4 strokes— freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke. Stroke development lessons are tailored to fit the individual needs of your child. Whether it is learning the basics of freestyle or more advanced techniques to prepare for swim team. Lesson duration is based off of age and skill level.
